24 November 2025

With the support of the Innovation and Digital Development Agency (IDDA), the Azerbaijan Innovation Center (AIC) has been established under the Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ASOIU).
The opening ceremony was attended by the university’s leadership, faculty members, students, and startup founders from within ASOIU.

In his welcoming remarks, Farid Osmanov, Chairman of the Board of IDDA, emphasized the role of innovation centers established with the Agency’s support in fostering the development of the startup culture in the country. Highlighting the advantages of locating the Center within the university structure, Mr. Osmanov stated:
“In the future, ASOIU AIC will serve as a new innovation hub that strengthens the state–university–business triangle and creates a strong innovative foundation for industrial sectors contributing to the development of the non-oil economy. The Center offers an environment that supports all stages from idea to product—mentorship, incubation, acceleration, and international networking.”

Rufat Azizov, Rector of ASOIU, spoke about the university’s activities in the field of innovation. He noted that thanks to the resources of ASOIU AIC, student innovators at the university are provided with all the necessary conditions to test their ideas, build prototypes, and develop them in line with real market needs.

ASOIU AIC is equipped with technical infrastructure for prototyping, hardware design, and research. The Center also includes a computer lab available to university students, program participants, and other users. In addition, it features coworking areas, meeting and presentation rooms, as well as dedicated spaces for training and learning.
