The Sumgait Innovation HUB, established with the support of the Innovation and Digital Development Agency (IDDA) and sponsorship from PAŞA Holding, has opened. The event was attended by government officials, prominent ecosystem players, startup founders, and members of the ICT community.
In his opening speech, Samir Mammadov, Deputy Minister of Digital Development and Transport, stated that establishing the Sumgait Innovation HUB represents the next phase of a unified innovation network across the country. “This HUB will serve as a hub for generating ideas that contribute to forming and strengthening an innovation culture in the country. It aims to develop the startup ecosystem with a comprehensive infrastructure network and nurture a new generation with innovative thinking,” noted Mammadov.
Following this, Teymur Samadov, the first deputy head of the Sumgait City Executive Authority, delivered a speech. He described the establishment of the Sumgait Innovation HUB as a significant event in the social lives of the city’s youth and expressed confidence that the HUB will become an excellent platform for Sumgait’s youth to share their innovative ideas in the future. Teymur Samadov also extended his gratitude to the IDDA and other organizations for supporting this initiative.
Subsequent speakers included Elvin Hajiyev, Head of the Azerbaijan Innovation Center, and Ilgar Adgozalov, Head of the Sumgait Innovation HUB. They provided detailed information about the facilities at the Center, its office spaces, partnerships, future plans, and upcoming events.
It should be noted that the Sumgait Innovation HUB encompasses office spaces covering a total area of 750 square meters, coworking areas, computer and meeting rooms, a laboratory, and an event hall. Startups will have the opportunity to participate in incubation and acceleration programs, present their projects, meet with companies, and establish partnerships at the center.
