The Innovation and Digital Development Agency (IRIA) of Azerbaijan and Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to expand economic, industrial, scientific, and technological cooperation in the field of innovation.
The memorandum includes the establishment of a Center of Excellence in Azerbaijan for learning advanced practices, organizing training programs, developing human capital, and other significant initiatives.
IRIA Chairman Farid Osmanov emphasized the importance of the memorandum, stating that the agency is committed to deepening innovation cooperation with the Israeli technology company:
“We aim to collaborate with Israeli academic and technological institutions to bring their cutting-edge expertise to Azerbaijan and foster knowledge exchange. Our initial initiatives will focus on developing human capital and creating innovative solutions in partnership with Azercosmos. We will place special emphasis on artificial intelligence, quantum technologies, sustainable space solutions, and energy technologies.”
Eytan Eshel, Chief Technology Officer at Israel Aerospace Industries, noted that the establishment of the Center of Excellence signifies the strong technological collaboration between the two countries. According to him, this agreement provides both nations with real opportunities to elevate their innovative and technological potential while also fostering a strong human capital base in the sector. The cooperation framework includes joint events, seminars, forums, and training programs to facilitate knowledge exchange.
It is worth noting that during COP29, IRIA organized the event “Digital Green Horizons: Integrating Government and Technological Solutions for a Sustainable Future.” As part of this event, a panel session was held with Israel Aerospace Industries, laying the groundwork for sustained collaboration.
