Within the framework of cooperation between the Innovation and Digital Development Agency (IDDA) and the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA), a workshop on “Digital Government Development” was held on June 29–30, 2026. During the two-day workshop, representatives of government institutions, the private sector, and experts in digital governance from international organizations came together. Discussions were held on Azerbaijan’s digital development, the work carried out in this field, and future development priorities.

During the workshop, achievements in the field of digital government and strategic priorities were reviewed. Representatives of government institutions delivered presentations on key results achieved in digital transformation and existing challenges, and engaged in practical discussions on the maturity level of digital services and organizational capacity. Particular attention was given to Azerbaijan’s readiness for the artificial intelligence–driven digital government phase.

At the workshop, both local and international experts shared their approaches and best practices on digital government development, interagency coordination, evidence-based policymaking focused on measurement and evaluation of results, transformation of citizen-centric digital services, and emerging technological trends.

Shahin Aliyev, Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Innovation and Digital Development Agency, emphasized the importance of the workshop for Azerbaijan:
“Over the two days, we held highly productive discussions on Azerbaijan’s achievements in digital government, readiness for artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, Sustainable Development Goals, and inclusive digital transformation. I believe this workshop will make a significant contribution to strengthening interagency coordination and advancing national priorities in Azerbaijan.”

Vincenzo Aquaro, Chief of Digital Government at the Division for Public Institutions and Digital Government of UN DESA, noted the importance of the workshop for Azerbaijan’s digital development journey:
“At this workshop, we witnessed Azerbaijan’s purposeful approach to building a modern, secure, and citizen-centric digital government. Government institutions, the private sector, academia, and international partners came together to exchange valuable insights on achievements and the implementation of national digital priorities in Azerbaijan.”

It should be noted that the main objective of the “Digital Government Development” workshop was to discuss and analyze the results achieved in digital transformation and future priorities.
