The Innovation and Digital Development Agency (IDDA) has launched a series of regular educational information sessions titled “Digital Competencies for Media.”
The main objective of the sessions is to enhance journalists’ digital literacy, provide information about the work being carried out in the country in the field of digitalization and the activities of the Agency, as well as present relevant projects and initiatives.
Nearly 30 media organizations were represented at the first session, held on September 1. At the opening of the event, Farid Osmanov, Chairman of the Board of the Innovation and Digital Development Agency, stated that the main goal of the series of sessions is to intensify dialogue with the media on innovation and digital development, provide timely information about new initiatives, and raise awareness of digital transformation processes in the country. He then provided detailed information on projects implemented in the field of digital development, newly adopted legal regulations in this area, and the key priorities outlined in the 2026–2028 Action Plan.
During the meeting, representatives of the Agency’s Legal Department presented the key provisions of the “Digital Legislation Package,” which creates new opportunities for the development of the digital economy and innovation ecosystem and the establishment of a favorable tax and regulatory environment. Information was also provided on the tax benefits and other incentives that freelancers and digital nomads will be able to receive by becoming residents of the Technopark under the “Incentive Package,” in accordance with the new amendments.
During the session, information was provided on expanding the activities of the Technopark, the operation of venture studios, facilitating startups’ access to the market, as well as organizing audit and consulting services, training, and certification programs in the field of digital transformation. The discussion also covered the application of advanced international practices in the digital field in Azerbaijan, as well as the key targets defined in the 2026–2028 Action Plan.
At the end of the meeting, journalists’ questions regarding the topics presented were answered. Similar meetings are planned to be held regularly in order to raise awareness of the work being carried out in the field of digital development in Azerbaijan and further develop cooperation with the media.
