IDDA has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Mastercard

The Innovation and Digital Development Agency (IDDA) and Mastercard have signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the field of cybersecurity.

Within the framework of this partnership, the parties aim to implement advanced cybersecurity technologies in Azerbaijan, strengthen cyber resilience at both organizational and ecosystem levels, support startup development and innovation, and enhance professional skills and leadership potential in cybersecurity.

During a meeting with Mastercard executives, Deputy Minister of Digital Development and Transport Rashad Hasanov emphasized the importance of public-private partnerships. He noted that adopting advanced technological practices contributes to achieving Azerbaijan’s national priorities in digital development and innovation. He also highlighted that cooperation with Mastercard in cybersecurity will be a key focus, particularly in digitalization, innovation, and human capital development, with joint projects involving leading experts from both sides.

As part of the collaboration, comprehensive support mechanisms will be introduced to accelerate startup growth. These include startup selection and acceleration, improved access to financial resources, connections to international expert and investor networks, as well as mentorship and skills development. Additionally, opportunities will be created for startups to enter local and global markets and commercialize their products.

The memorandum also предусматривает the implementation of regional leadership and cross-country cooperation programs. These initiatives will bring together information security leaders from various organizations, financial institutions, and companies to exchange experience, discuss актуальные topics, and strengthen international cooperation.

Another key focus of the partnership is the development of sustainable human capital in cybersecurity. Training programs, as well as education and mentorship in cybersecurity governance, risk management, and compliance, will be implemented.

This partnership is also expected to position Azerbaijan as a regional hub for innovation and cybersecurity, while strengthening resilience across the broader CIS region. Structured regional programs will promote skills development, institutional collaboration, and the export potential of products and services.

Craig Vosburg, Chief Services Officer at Mastercard, highlighted Azerbaijan’s strong potential for digital transformation, innovation, and human capital development. He noted that the country is among those experiencing rapid digital growth and emphasized that this cooperation will be mutually beneficial in terms of knowledge exchange.

It is worth noting that Mastercard operates in more than 200 countries and specializes in payment systems, offering solutions for secure and inclusive digital transactions through advanced technologies, cybersecurity tools, and data-driven services.
